Updated: Perry Makes "Final Pitch" for Dewhurst
Update, 7/25/12, 10:30 a.m.: Club for Growth spokesman Barney Keller said the organization has no position on the race for Senate Republican Whip.
Regarding the group's support of Cruz over Dewhurst, Keller pointed to an instance nine years ago in which Perry criticized Dewhurst for wanting to tap the Rainy Day Fund and other one-time revenue sources to cover a revenue shortfall.

Frankly, this election has been a race to the fringe right by both candidates, with each candidate racing to the bottom in order to appeal to the radical right now in control of the repubs. However, as perry moves back into the governor's mansion, he might want to hold off on unpacking everything. A Cruz wins despite perry's support for Dewhurst, such an event would be highly indicative of the state's reaction to the next perry run for governor.

A thinking person would then vote for Paul Sadler.
