To Try to Predict Perry's Future, Look to His Past
Just listen to him. Rick Perry is saying he might run for another term as governor and that he has not ruled out the possibility of another run for president.
Set aside what you think of that, whether you are for him or against him, what you think the odds of success might be.
Remember this: In his long history in state politics — closing in on three decades — Perry has run for everything he said he was going to run for.
Given his history, the safest assumption is that Perry will be on the ballot again in 2014, running for ...

Perry endorsed Noot Gingrich for President. It is easy to see why such a towering intellect is perfect for Texas. I predict he dies in office, an old man.

If this man does run again for Governor, it will be interesting to see how the public reacts. After his embarrassing performance nationally, I do not think the electorate is going to give him a free pass on future debates. Now that we see the reason he has continually refused to debate his opponents. It was because he was too afraid to do so, he realized how poorly he performs in this arena. As to another Presidential run, this Democrat would love nothing better. I would love to watch him as he flounders and embarrasses himself. From my Texan standpoint, I cringe at the thought. His run earlier this year is the most embarrassing run for office since McGovern's failed run.

If Perry is the Republican candidate for governor again, I may register my old yellow dog to run against him. Even though the ole fellow is half-blind, deaf, crippled up, and incontinent, he's just as smart as Perry and a hell of a lot more honest.

Oh, Good! We haven't impressed enough of the nation that we're primitive, stupid and backward. Rick Perry doesn't like leaving a job undone, so he's wanting to see it through. How can we be so lucky?

@Dale: "[Perry's] run earlier this year is the most embarrassing run for office since McGovern's failed run."
see under Perot, Ross: campaign of 1992.
Extra credit if you can name his running mate ("Why am I here?") without looking it up.

I really am surprised that anyone paying attention to the man over the last ten years would think he had any intention of not running again.

Please Texans no more Rick Perry, he is a total embarrassment. Rick has managed to show the nation what a fool he really is. Mr Wilkin Mcawber your old yellow dog has my vote.

As offensive as it may seem Rick Perry can make it so he can run again and win again.
Never underestimate the Billionaires in this State and the propaganda they can pay for. Giant oil cocmpanies like Exxon and BP and others. Tthe same people who voted Perry in the first and the second and the third time will vote for him and with the shenanigans that the Republicans can perform at the voting booths can get him elected.
Sorry, I do not wish for you indigestion, but that is my ipinion. I have watched the nefarious Bob Perry andd Harold Simmons and others like them. You would be surprised what you can accomplish if you have corruption and mayhem on your brain and a million dollars to spare.

Texas voters should slap Perry out of office, as he single handed-ly made Texas the laughing stock of the nation with his "Deer in the head lights" look when he flamed out in grandiose form. No excuse will fill the void he creates everywhere he goes. His incompetence and ineptness show Texas as single-celled thinkers while everyone else have higher mental abilities. Then Perry hawks his single thought process and opts to negate any additional funding for the people to put forth his skewed thought process. His actions will place millions in peril as their health concerns will flood the ER's around the state forcing Hospitals to increase charges to cover the expenses indigents will not be able to pay. Taxes will go up to cover the increased cost counties hospitals will incur. Every Texan will see increased insurance premiums to off-set insurance expenses. Perry has to go!

@ TD Admiral James Stockdale. A genuine hero and the originator of the Stockdale Paradox. But past his prime in 1992.

I don't want him.

@ T D - If your asking who McGovern's running mate was, it was Thomas Eagleton initially, and Sgt Schriver after Eagleton had to step down. If you asking about who was Perot's running mate, then I will have to pass. I remember the face but not who the person was.

For an indication as to Perry's chances at re-election, I believe the run for repub Senate nomination will be highly indicative. If Cruz wins, Perry loses!

This a great link for DEMS - Talk Show Host Papantantonia interviewing Liz Winstead the woman who used to run Air America and is now lead writer for Jon Stewart.
I bought her book and laughed myself silly. It is called Lizz Free or Die. You will enjoy other people Papantonia interviews. . Check out the right side for the list and do not miss Pity the Billionaire by Thomas Frank.

Reading all the posts here - always- in my opinion, Rick Perry is a Moron and Cruz is no better.
This is a frightening situation. Really. We have John Cornyn who is the most ineffective Senator in Washington. Except where big oil is concerned. We need someone who will support and assist all the people in Texas. Cruz will not do that. He is beholden to the Tea Party, he is more of a religious fanatic than Perry is... This does not bode well....
