The Big Conversation:
The gulf between the House and Senate over budget cuts may be widening.
Though House Republicans, with a two-thirds majority, handily passed a stark, service-slashing budget this weekend, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst has said the House proposal wouldn't get the votes needed to pass in the similarly Republican-dominated Senate, where lawmakers have said they're prepared to spend about $10 billion more than the House.
But key Republican senators now say they've also got beef with some of the amendments their House counterparts tacked on to the bill over the weekend.

I guess that depends on what your definition of "access" is.

Planned Parenthood has done more good for educating the most critical part of society on their health and the welfare of their children. Totally support.

Who is this wise person who made this quote? It's nice to hear a voice of reason in Austin.

All of you that support Planned Parenthood pullout YOUR check book and write them a check and I'll do like wise for the groups I support. I wont ask you to support my groups and do ask me to support yours.

HEY BOB! All of you that support Rick Perry and corporate handouts pullout YOUR check book and write them a check and I'll do like wise for the groups I support. I wont ask you to support my groups and do ask me to support yours.

Ditto to what George said.

I've never written a check to Rick Perry.
Bob McSpadden via Texas Tribune on Facebook
nor do I support corporate handouts.

Since when does Planned Parenthood have a monopoly on family planning services?
Robert Greene via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Interesting how just because Bob does not support Planned Parenthood he is a Perry worshiper and blinded to "corporate handouts." How is that jump made? Just curious.
Todd Dawson via Texas Tribune on Facebook
How about we ALL work to put an end to corporate handouts, bailouts, and subsidies. BTW, claiming people "on the right" support corporate welfare is the most transparent straw man ever. It is the left that enables an ever-expanding gov't, unlimited budget deficits, and begs for subsidized everything.

Pretty easy logic... Planned Parenthood assaults the core of Bob... Perry and the Tea Party ilk assault me to the core. When Boehner stabs all the TPers in the heart... I WILL BE THERE TO GLOAT!

Lol. I shall delete this page. Had no idea it was a big abortion supporter. Which I am not.

Then get out there and start handing out free birth control - or get a pair of scissors...

I tell ya what, Bobby: you start voting for pols who'll setup a national Medicare-for-all type system or at the very least a highly-regulated German style non-profit health insurance system--with prenatal care, checkups, and affordable hospital stays--and "big scary" Planned Parenthood wouldn't be necessary. If you pro-lifers really cared about reducing abortions--which you most assuredly DO NOT care about--you'd support things like 1. universal free-or-nearly-free health coverage 2. a very generous (and mandatory) maternity leave 3. wider access to sex-ed and contraception and then stuff like 4. greater unionization i.e. repeal of Taft-Hartley to put upward pressure on wages and 5. free higher education, so that working and middle class people could afford to give any prospective children a decent life. But since you pro-lifers--in reality and in practice--care only about making the rich richer, punishing the working classes, and punishing/controlling women, you do not support any of these things. Because you're all vindictive, hypocritical liars.

Actually, planned parenthood is responsible for free or sliding scale birth control access in some of the most remote areas of Texas. At times, those areas need it most due to income, distance, or heavy stigma to something like 'the pill'

Planned parenthood does a lot of good stuff, I just don't support everything they do. Just like I like Perry probably more than 50% of the time, but I don't agree with all of his politics. I have been asked to run for office many times by many people and at least in this stage of the game, I have elected to not do it. If I decide to wear a tie, I don't want it to be the optional noose for those that disagree with one or two of my policies. @ George - pretty volatile words by one who would probably claim TPers are a violent group. Not saying you are, just came accross that way.

OH WHAT A "SENSIBLE" "MODERATE" YOU ARE, ROBERT.

Majority of PPs do not accept Title X funds which means they no longer see patients free of charge, i.e., teens, poor women, men and the undocumented. Non-profit-Non-PP organizations serve thousands of poor patients and should not be driven out of business because of PP's reputation.
