• Cornyn labels 'outrageous' Obama's 'crazy idea' to unilaterally raise debt ceiling (Houston Chronicle): "John Cornyn is known for being a politician who carefully chooses his words. He is, by choice, deliberate and judicious. Today, he was just plain mad. In an interview on Fox News, the San Antonio Republican condemned a proposal floated by the White House to unilaterally raise the nation’s debt ceiling if Congress fails to act before the spring 2013 deadline. 'It’s profoundly irresponsible,' Cornyn said. 'So that’s a crazy idea and I’m amazed that [Treasury] Secretary [Tim] Geithner had the ...

• As U.S. Debt Ceiling Is Reached, Bush Administration Seeks to Raise It Once Again (October 15, 2004)
Less than a day after President Bush implied that Senator John Kerry lacked ”fiscal sanity,” the Bush administration said on Thursday that the federal government had hit the debt ceiling set by Congress and would have to borrow from the civil service retirement system until after the elections.
Federal operations are unlikely to be affected because Congress is certain to raise the debt limit in a lame-duck session in November. Congressional Republicans had wanted to avoid an embarrassing vote to raise the debt ceiling just a few weeks before Election Day.
Since Mr. Bush took office in January 2001, the federal debt has increased about 40 percent, or $2.1 trillion, to $7.4 trillion. Congress has raised the debt ceiling three times in three years, raising it most recently by $984 billion in May 2003.

I'm amazed Cornyn didn't see the writings on the wall on November 6th. America is going to swing totally blue with this attitude and bigoted comments. 'Ol John makes no sense, and he doesn't want to work with Obama and as such will take down Texas and the nation with his confrontational attitude. The voters said to work to fix the nation's problems. The voter's were adamant and the number do not lie. i am totally amazed he does not want to work to get back into the graces of the people. he is acting just like another mad old white boy from Texas! I'm an old version of Southern Democrat, still live in Texas and sick and tired of bigots keeping their bigotry out in the open! The best revenge is to vote! The best way to make a real change is to vote! The best revenge is knowing everything about who you vote for. Be very selective of anyone using the (R) as some are using that instead of their real crimson(T) when they run for office. And the 2014 Mid-term is a-coming!

After the way Cornyn just got his powdered wig handed to him in the election...largely due to people saying "crazy" things, he has some nerve.

With the con-joined TEA-Libertarian-Evangelical-Republican-GOP scheduled war about who blew it, there is speculation the TEA faction will bail on the rest and knaw away to keep president Obama from getting any positive spin. The radical misfits will fall flat on their face when the immigration does not get to the floor for a vote. That one issue is what the minorities and people of color are waiting for. Come 2014 they are going to explode and take down as many of the confrontational they can across the nation. That, you can take to the bank, as preparations are being planned in states still to be targeted. Democrats have staked out their positions after meeting with groups around the country and Obama has promised to go for immigration reform sooner than later.

Cornyn talks about a maxed out US credit card. His party's solution to pay it off is just to not use the card anymore i.e. cut spending. If I told Visa that I'm going to pay off my credit card, not by writing checks but by using it less, I would go to jail.
To raise revenue, the Reds want to cut loopholes rather than raise taxes. The only long-lasting revenue that will be raised is the salary of the army of lawyers and lobbyists that will be twisting Congress's arms to have new loopholes covertly earmarked back into the tax laws. A straight benchmark tax raise for the 2% will be much harder to roll back covertly, be simpler to write, and raise a greater revenue needed to truly start paying off our and our poor kids debt.

How different is that from the GOP unilaterally holding the whole country hostage?

DO NOT raise the debt ceiling and let the 250K+ tax cuts end

It's been months and months since Corny crawled out of his hole. Now he's back to labeling real statesmen whilst he scurries off once again!
