Rep. McCaul: Immigration Reform Possible Next Session
A key Republican in Texas’ congressional delegation said Thursday that passing comprehensive immigration reform is possible next session, but conceded it would still be a contentious endeavor.
U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, also said that after initially fearing that Mexico could revert to its former ways of corruption following its July 1 election, the country’s president-elect, Enrique Peña Nieto, has made encouraging remarks regarding the future of the country.
McCaul, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations and Management, spoke at the University of Texas at Austin’s Global Security Summit and told ...

They should have done that from the start .. All the GOP did was play games for the last 4 years not seeing they too were hurting this nation.. They should have paid more attention to America than to simply removing Obama which seemed to be their only agenda.. NO free Pass for any of them..

If the GOP don't want to be voted out of office in the mid-term elections, then I urge them to listen to Rep. McCaul and NOT the Tea Party bunch.

McCain & other Republicans used to be in favor of immigration reform - until the Tea Party came into play and made all those Republicans run for cover... I guess McCain will once again be hip!!! The Tea Party has been the downfall of the GOP and they're the reason I might never vote for the GOP again...

Is that the guy who stood on the Capital grounds and quoted Jefferson's assertion that the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants? THAT guy?

Wonder why we didn't see articles like this after the 2010 midterm when the Democrats where beat up and down the ticket by the "tea party" Republicans. Didn't see the Democrats wanting to cross the isle and work with the Republicans. Without the "tea party" the Democrats would still be in control of the House so don't discount their strength in future elections.

Gee, why didn't they think of this a few years ago?

^^^ what a stereotype statement... It's people who make these types of statements within a party that drive away Latinos... Until Republicans as a whole understand what's wrong with these types of statements - the GOP will continue to lose ground...

Republicans have more Latinos in elected offices than the Democrats.

I don't believe it for a minute.

There is nothing contentious about passing the "Dream Act" as it has already passed the muster of discussion and compromise and is ready to be addressed and passed for the presidents signature.

What a joker I guess our laws do not mean a dame thing and anyone can get what they want because they break enough of our laws and a republican loses a race we all must give into law breakers and do not forget all those who come here legally and did it the right way does not mean a dame thing. If anything we need a strong leader who will not bend to law breakers for a vote. We must put the votes that count back in the peoples hands not a few states that decide because unions are cater to be democrats for money and favors. We need to go belly up and let the nation see what happens when they choose wrong and cheat there way back to winning there seat. Anyone wonder why Obama and democrats held all those offices in the deciding states??? Well this what happens when the electoral college votes over ride the peoples vote and only one third of our nation votes and after this election I gather the voters may stay home and just let the few states vote all our leaders in think about it over 200 million voters that should be voting stay home because they know there votes do not count under a electoral college scam. Voter ID must be nation wide and stronger term limits and rules on ads I say no more then 10 hours of fact check ads per state would be a good start and most of all money should not choose our leaders we the people should do that.

The will work on it, because they want to win the next election but the GOP/TP wont pass anything to help Hispanics or anyone else who comes here.

Given the topic of immigrants in recent elections, an interesting new book that helps explain the role, struggles, and contributions of immigrants and minorities is "What Foreigners Need To Know About America From A To Z: How to understand crazy American culture, people, government, business, language and more.” It paints a revealing picture of America for those foreigners who will benefit from a better understanding. Endorsed by ambassadors, educators, and editors, it also informs Americans who want to learn more about the U.S. and how we compare to other countries around the world on many issues. As the book points out, immigrants and minorities are a major force in America. They come to improve their lives and create a foundation of success for their children to build upon, as did the author’s grandparents in 1899 after losing 2 children to disease on a cramped cattle car-like sailing from Europe. Many bring skills and a willingness to work hard to make their dreams a reality, something our founders did four hundred years ago. In describing America, chapter after chapter identifies “foreigners” and minority members who became successful in the US and contributed to our society. However, most struggle in their efforts and need guidance, be they Dreamers in Texas or cabbage pickers in California. Perhaps the book, immigration reform, and Americans will lend a helping hand. www.AmericaAtoZ.com
