Texas Lawmakers Want to Include Mexico in Trade Pact
Despite trade between Mexico and the United States surpassing $460 billion in 2011 — a 17 percent increase from 2010 — America’s southern neighbor wasn’t initially considered as a partner in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a multi-country affiliation meant to increase trade and reduce tariffs between member countries.
A group of Texas lawmakers recently sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk asking him to consider including Mexico, whose five largest trading destinations include the trade districts of Laredo, El Paso and Houston, in the partnership dialogue. Makes perfect sense. Send American jobs to Mexico and maybe they will stop coming here for them, although they have slowed down since they have sucked up most of the available work already. Nowhere in the story did they mention how much money is sent back to Mexico by Mexicans working here, or is that included in the $460 billion? They are already very dependant on the U.S. economy for their survival and we may well provide half their income already. Who could fault them for wanting even more?

Very odd comments above, but a great point in the article about folks who want unlimited movement of goods but restricted movement of people.
OTOH, as a practical matter, the US is not building any new Pacific ports and Mexico is building multiple megaports there, plus a new highway system to transport goods from the Pacific Rim to the US. So realistically, excluding Mexico in Pacific Rim trade talks makes little sense going forward. Western US port capacity cannot remotely handle the flood of Asian goods even now, and the situation will only grow more acute with each passing year, which is how you get $207 billion in imports per year coming through Laredo.
If Americans want their cheap Chinese goods, they've got to enter the country somewhere.

Mexico should be cut off from all trade and assistance until they stop terrorizing and killing their own citizens.

to gypsy314 ne, consider it payed since the workers that come to America are always been stolen from since they don't get payed the right amount. The people that hire the undocumented get all the tax money since they cant report any SSN's. Don't forget where your blood line comes from.
