Word Cloud Shows Lege Priorities So Far

Capitol insiders spend a lot of time talking about the speaker's race and the looming battles over the budget shortfall and redistricting, but it appears that many lawmakers are also focused on bread-and-butter legislation — at least according to the bills they've filed so far. More than a quarter of the 800 bills filed since Nov. 8 are related to education, for example. 

This word cloud visualizes the bills by the Texas Legislative Council's assigned categories by increasing sizes according to frequency. After education, the top categories are elections, criminal procedure, vehicles and traffic, and taxation.
