Swinford Won't Run Again
State Rep. David Swinford, R-Dumas, won't run again, he announced in an e-mail press release this evening.
"After almost 20 years of legislative service, I have decided not to run for re-election as State Representative, District 87," he wrote.
"At our family Christmas gathering, we decided that it was time to become a private citizen again after completing my term that ends in January, 2010. What's going on with strident Craddick/DeLay supporters leaving the Texas House? Good riddance to Swinford, Gattis and others. Do they see a Dem takeover next year or just an end to having powerful crony friends freely feed at the public trough to the detriment of the taxpayer? Either way, it's good for the average Texan. Things can only improve over the corruption since 94! Maybe the Houston mayor election put a scare in hard core Rs.
