Petitioners Renew Talk of Texas Secession
Update, 4:40pm: Gov. Rick Perry's office, in response to an online petition asking the White House to approve the secession of Texas from the U.S., has said that "Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it."
"But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government," added spokeswoman Catherine Frazier. "Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens ...

Well D. Huang, I am not suggesting anything, as I explcitly spelled out that the US has one set of policies that is good for everyone else in the world re: seccession and another set for its own citizens. If that was unclear in my last post, I hope confusion has been removed. For the record, I don't know if it's a good or bad idea for Texas or any other state, but I don't think that just because an idea is unpopular doesn't mean it's not worth discussing.

First of all, states ( including Texas) do not even have the legal right to secession. So this is a complete waste of our taxpayer money. Secondly, take away all federal support and this state would go belly up. Just take a long look at every benefit we derive from being part of this wonderful country and then try to figure out how we could possibly duplicate it. Thirdly, you might want to spend a little time on that Pledge of Allegiance you've been reciting your whole life. One nation, under God, indivisible. Come on, people!

Just because TEA-Republican's got severely thumped on Taxes as 60% would accept taxes to go up on the top-tiered 2%. TEA-Republican's got severely thumped on forcing women to undergo medical examination at their expense by 59%. TEA-Republican's got severely thumped by 65% on immigration and a pathway for undocumented workers and their families.
I can't believe anything Rick Perry says or does since his "deer in the headlights" traipse across the nation representing Texas and Oopsville. Perry is a sad representation of Texas and he should be frustrated, as the TEA-Republican's cratered and received a severe thumping by Obama on November 6th.
This man is just like Romney saying everything he can to appease and garner votes. He and the TEA-Republican leadership of the Texas Legislature have taken a stand on the wrong side of school funding, Clean air and environmental regulation along with going backwards to "laissez faire" leadership allowing business to run rampant. Rather than seek conversation and compromise, he and others create diversionary rhetoric of secession to salve their wounds. With all of Rick Perry's gaffs and failures, he still wants to seek re-election. Surely Texans can do better.
Texas needs "term limits" and "Initiative and Referendum" with flakes like Perry, Dewhurst and newly elected Cruz.

Some of you who think this succession talk is silly, better pay attention to the amount of civil unrest in this country and start holding our elected officials accountable or we are going to be in trouble. Anyone who voted for Obama voted for a man who has lost his faith in capitalism and the free market. They voted for a man who ran against Bush using his 5 trillion dollar deficit against him - then turned around and raised the deficit more in half the time. We need a balance of Free Market and adequate Rule of Law or our economy is going to collapse. Obama funds his programs out of the pockets of American Texans. We don’t have any more to give. We need to wake up as a nation before our pathetic national leadership inspires another Thomas Jefferson. I don't like how things are going either I don't like the idea of Obama being RE-Elected either, but our countries financial problems are also on the "Bull- Headed House of Rep's, Congress and the Senate. I don't think people are looking at the Veteran's, Retired or Disabled, the benefits they receive for their part in keeping this country "PROTECTED". Also what about the benefits like Social Security for the disabled and the elderly. What happens to that if Texas leaves the "Union"? Is TEXAS going to make sure they keep the same amount of benefits they are receiving now or what ? People that are trying to petition for TEXAS to leave the Union need to think about them, because they make up at least half if not more of TEXAS. What are you going to do, cut their funds off? People need to think about these things and decide what they are going to do, because if it's a choice between Texas and losing their benefits they will leave TEXAS and stay where they are part of the USA to keep their benefits. We as a country need to make the House, Congress, Senate and Obama to pull their heads out of their BACK SIDES and fix what needs to be fix and quit playing with America. Secession? So much for the PLEDGE these citizens took everyday throughout school which includes the word INDIVISIBLE. They are no better than the "good citizens" desecrating our flag. Take a look at a Sayreville, NJ business who have chosen
to desecrate the American flag to make a political statement about the Obama re-election.
Any assumptions about Viking Terminal sending a distress signal resulting from Hurricane Sandy and the resulting flooding however are incorrect.
1- A black wreath displayed on the upside down flag: clear indication that the owners feel our country is dead as a result of the election.
2- A fast check on the owners into their Facebook accounts and other sources shows a pattern of right wing activity.
3- Repeated requests for comment from the business on the flag display have been ignored.
I have no problem with any of their political affiliations or activities. I do object however to their disrespectful use of our flag to make a statement.
There is a grassroots Facebook website set up to rally members in the hopes of boycotting this business until they remove their distasteful display. Please LIKE and SHARE:
