I believe Gib Lewis was the last speaker. He was originally from Cleveland, Texas. His seat was in Fort Worth, but he was from East Texas graduating Cleveland High School and attending Sam Houston State.

Rayford Price from Palestine in 72-73 and later Price Daniel, Jr. in 74-75 from Liberty.

Don't you actually have to VOTE in the Speaker's race if you want to run for Speaker. This is a joke. Hughes is being sent to the slaughter house by his uber-conservative buddies who know they don't have a chance against Straus.
As a reminder, Hughes was PNV for the last Speaker's race. If you don't have the courage to vote in the race, how do you ever expect to lead the House?
