Woolley Will Support Straus for Speaker
State Rep. Beverly Woolley, R-Houston, threw her support to House Speaker Joe Straus today, putting an important member of former Speaker Tom Craddick's team on the incumbent's side.

A number of conservatives in the House, including many of Craddick's supporters, have lined up against Straus. Warren Chisum of Pampa and Ken Paxton of McKinney are both running against the speaker, and ...

OK my question to the author of the story. What position did Woolley hold in the past session with Strauss as speaker. Also note to author, it was 11 Republicans that voted for Strauss as Speaker.

Mac: The actual vote was unanimous. But here's how the accounting worked: Eleven, including Straus, started it on a Friday night; by Sunday, they were up to 15 Republicans, and by the time he made his appearance in the Capitol rotunda on that Monday, he was at 93 in a House with 74 Democrats (most, but not all of whom were on board). 57 Republicans who were, at that point, supporting John Smithee, gave up their effort that afternoon. -rr

Also: Woolley served on two committees in Straus' first term, but wasn't chair or vice chair of either one.

Ross my answer of 11 is correct isn't it. Why don't you report it that way. Even 15 is not a majority of the Republicans supporting Strauss. Thanks for the Woolley info.
