Patrick Says Caucus Vote "Right Thing to Do"

In an "open letter to legislators and conservative voters all over Texas" obtained by the Tribune in advance of its release tomorrow, Patrick — the ringleader of the 82nd legislative session's Tea Party Caucus — does not back either state Rep. Ken Paxton, R-McKinney, or state Rep. Warren Chisum, R-Pampa, over incumbent Speaker Joe Straus, R-San Antonio. But in ...

Does this fool realize that the "house divided" about which Lincoln spoke was the US, not the Republican Party. And yes, our country is struggling, thanks to the hyper-partisan politics that people like Patrick espouse.:(

We need to make something very clear to Sen Patrick, which is now obvious to everyone and which he is willfully disregarding, THE TEA PARTY IS NOT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THE TEA PARTY IS NOT TOLERANT TO JEWS AND MINORITIES. THE TEA PARTY IS NOT THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT, IT IS THE FAR RIGHT EXTREME MOVEMENT WHICH HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF OUR DEBT FILLED ECONOMIC CLIMATE. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE RACISTS AND BIGOTS IN OUR PARTY. WHEN TEA PARTIERS HEAR THE NAME ROSA PARKS OR CESAR CHAVEZ, THEY GET ANGRY. THE TEA PARTY IS MAKING US, MAINSTREAM TEXAS, LOOK BAD. WITH CLAIMS LIKE OBAMA IS MUSLIM BORN IN KENYA ie. Birthers, CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION AND REPEAL BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP ie. Terror Babies, THE TEA PARTY IS BECOMING EVER MORE EXTREME, AWAY FROM MAINSTREAM TEXAS. PLEASE QUIT HANGING ON OUR COATTAILS AND FORM YOUR OWN PARTY, WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF??????????

Regardless of how a Republican candidate is chosen, I am confident Mr. Straus will be selected Speaker for this upcoming session. He proved last session that he is a capable leader and friend to all Texans. He is the right man for the job, and the majority of Texans are supporting him. Even a large majority of members of the Tea Party Caucus are supporting Mr. Straus.

Rosa, we have Jews and minorities (both Blacks and Hispanics) in our Tea Party. We have worked for several minority candidates. I am a Tea Party whose wife is Chinese and I recently returned from Africa from watching my wheelchair-bound 'daughter' there graduate from college and meeting the new family I am sponsoring, that turned out to be Muslim You know nothing about us.
Tami, that is a straight cut and paste from Straus talking points we've seen before. Not sure if you are being lazy of simply a paid worker, but try to be more inventive.
This house divided is the GOP political class supporting Straus and the constituents that gave them such a large majority who want some more representative the the delivered mandate. .
