Overwhelming Majority of GOP Lawmakers Endorse Straus
Despite loud protests from Tea Party groups that pushed for a more conservative leader, the Texas House Republican Caucus endorsed incumbent Speaker Joe Straus in an afternoon vote. Straus, appearing after the meeting, said the notion of a speaker's race was "overstudied and overanalyzed."

A bunch of RINO's endorsing another RINO. If Joe Straus wins, Texas loses. It's as simple as that.

He already won. I don't think it's quite that severe though. Possibly a setback, yes, but not a total loss. There are still plenty of people who are in the fight. This is only one battle. Next will come the committee appointments I suppose. That will be what really drives what we see comes up for a vote. Will he hid behind his Democrat appointments again? Really he doesn't need any Democrats to win the Speaker, so no one to pay off if you know what I mean.

He has literally already paid off a huge bunch of republicans to keep their vote for him. What a shame to see 'good' ppl fall for power & greed rather than representing the ppl of Texas. Joe Straus is in this for Joe Straus & no one else. He's in it for the racing/gambling interests for his family business. Yes, Texas loses with Joe Straus. Did these representatives forget that Joe Straus was booed at the the Texas Republican Convention in Dallas this past summer? Have they not heard the outcry from the ppl? God help us.
