Planned Parenthood Sues Texas Over "Affiliate Ban Rule"
A Travis County district judge on Friday issued a temporary restraining order that allows Planned Parenthood to remain a part of the federally funded Women's Health Program in Texas, just one day after a federal appeals court rejected the health care provider's efforts.
State District Judge Amy Clark-Meachum's order came in response to a lawsuit Planned Parenthood filed Friday in state court, arguing that Texas' plan to ban the organization from the Women's Health Program is invalid.
Despite the restraining order, Texas Health and Human Services Commission officials said the agency will continue with plans to ...

Women of Texas be wise, don't let the GOP boys bully us

Here are my thoughts.. If planned parenthood was really concerned with providing care to women.. Why not spin off the abortion portion of the "company" to make a clear separation of the portion in question by the state.. This way they still get funds without the state feeling that they are supporting abortion. I don't support abortion but I clearly understand planned parent hood provides more than just abortions. Is that too much to ask or am I way off base..?

Yes

I always wonder how many children those who are adamantly against abortion have adopted. I'm guessing the predominant answer is none....
Dominic Giarratani via Texas Tribune on Facebook
that's the predominant answer for every category of people you can disect except for "people who have adopted" so it proves nothing. THe real point here is does an non-government provider get to force a government to spend tax money on it when the representatives of the governed have said no. Kelly put a solution forward, looks to me worth exploring regardless of where you fall on the abortion debate, but so far I'm the only one to like his comment. Is there no such thing as a middle ground anymore?

Wish the "pro-lifers" would care about the children after they were born.

I wasn't actually referring to his comment as it was not visible when I posted. However, I never hear anyone on the pro-life side of the debate discuss how we would feed, clothe, house and educate all of the children that would result in "every child being born". As if it's someone else's problem to deal with.
To your point, the majority of Americans have not and do not plan on adopting, so what makes one think that if every child was born that would possibly change.
To address Kelly's comment I do actually think that idea is a compelling one. Although I can think of many other things that I do not feel comfortable funneling my tax dollars to, so whose to say who should decide how state funds are allocated?

If you are sick and tired of the TEA-Republican's ruining Texas - Vote them out of office, starting Perry!

The DNC and pp would rather slaughter children than help Texas women.

So for you Harmony the worth of a life is whether it is going to be clothed or fed by someone other than the one that's pregnant?
Caitlin Gilchrist via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Kelly - they've already done that. In Texas, the PP clinics that provide abortion and the ones that don't are completely separate. All they have in common is the name, but that's enough for the state to claim an "affiliation" between the two and cut both of them out of the WHP.

Usually these types of comments get deleted because they make sense. If you do get to read this please copy it and forward it. Even if you’re an atheist, any reasonable person recognizes that an organism (regardless of what it looks like) which has the DNA of what we consider “human”, it has the potential to do what other “humans” do. A six month old organism with the DNA of a “human” cannot survive on its own. It needs another “human” to survive. When I say six month old I mean both: six months after it’s conception AND six months after it’s birth (typically 15 months after conception, 9 + 6 = 15), in both cases this “human” organism needs another “human” organism to survive. Up to this point most of society does not consider it ok to terminate an organism with human DNA 15 months after it is conceived. This attitude may change in the future, it used to be that society did not consider it ok to terminate an organism with human DNA 6 months after it is conceived. Usually these types of comments get deleted because they make sense. If you do get to read this please copy it and forward it. It's amazing how stupid people are, both on the left and on the right. People make a big fuss out of the government getting involved in their lives in some aspects, but not others. Many people say women should have the right to do whatever they want with their bodies...ONLY WHEN IT COMES TO ABORTION!! You never see them complain about anything else. Why don't they complain about seatbelts? Why is it ok for the government to FINE YOU if you refuse to put something on your body? What about drugs? Why is it ok for the government to PUT YOU IN JAIL if you put something in your body in the privacy of your own home where you cannot hurt anyone except yourself? This abortion issue is not about women's rights or feminism; if it was then other issues like these would be in the lime light because they're just as valid. The abortion issue is about something very sinister. If you don't see it, open your eyes and your mind, read between the lines, think about.

@ Cairlin-I did not know that. I suppose my next question would be are both clinics in Texas ever located in one building? And why not change the name.. Clear separation... It's so hard to legislate morality neither side is ever satisfied.
Caitlin Gilchrist via Texas Tribune on Facebook
I don't know about if they're ever in the same building, but my guess is not. The clinics that provide abortions provide other services as well, so there would be no need to have two nearly identical clinics in the same complex. And I imagine they haven't changed the name because both types of clinics are still Planned Parenthood clinics. Changing the name probably wouldn't have done any good anyhow, considering how hellbent the state is on getting rid of anything that's ever been tied to PP.
