Ryan's Plan for Medicaid, Medicare Mirrors Texas Bills
If Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan's controversial plan for reforming Medicaid and Medicare sounds familiar in Texas, it should. The Wisconsin congressman’s proposal bears strong similarities to bills that Texas Republicans advocated for — and eventually passed — during the last legislative session.
Ryan’s congressional budget plan — so far trumped by Senate Democrats and the Obama administration — would replace Medicaid, the joint state-federal health insurance program for the disabled and impoverished children, with block grants to allow states to run the program as they see fit. And it would dramatically alter Medicare, offering the elderly who qualify for ...

When old folks are sick or demented, they don't give a damn about searching for insurance with vouchers, they just want to be cared for.

Again, we can see the Tparty and far right's love of rhetoric over truth and reality. It's easy to say that Medicaid is unsustainable, but that is not the case. How can anyone call Medicaid unsustainable and simultaneously ignore the size and growth in our defense budget. The State of Texas' recently granted waiver (1115 Waiver) is essentially due to the State of Texas's, under the 'leadership' of Perry and the Tparty, effectively abandoning their responsibilities under Medicaid. For this group to now petition the Fed's for "decision-making" when it comes to Medicaid is to turn over the controls of this safety net to the very ones who would dismantle it. It is also noteworthy, to recognize these zealots want to start on Medicaid first. Why? Because there are a great many repubs on Medicare and much less on medicaid.

It appears that the NRCC is in a panic over Paul Ryan's elevation to the national ticket. They've sent a flurry of memos since Saturday, and the latest is over messaging on Medicare and Social Security. Despite the fact that the actual memo came from the NRCC, the instructions are straight out of the Luntz playbook, as outlined in 2009 and 2010.
Via Politico:
“Do not say: ‘entitlement reform,’ ‘privatization,’ ‘every option is on the table,’” the National Republican Congressional Committee said in an email memo. “Do say: ‘strengthen,’ ‘secure,’ ‘save,’ ‘preserve, ‘protect.’”
The email read like a warning shot, alerting Republicans that they would soon face a barrage of Medicare-themed attacks and telling them they needed to be ready for the scrutiny that was to come. The internal email, obtained by POLITICO, was a clear and immediate sign that Republicans knew Ryan could create trouble down ballot for GOP candidates in tight congressional races.
See, it is not what is good for the country and it is not what is good for the citizens.... it is just a play on words.... so the Republicans can continue to bamboozle you..... every day.

Just a reminder--TTribune is not real journalism. It's a phony "non profit" supported by Prog Rats (Democrat Progressives)

So how do you square Ryan's being a "faithful Catholic" with Ryan's reverence with Ayn Rand?
Here's a few choice quotes from Ayn Rand on faith, etc.:
The alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short circuit destroying the mind.
. Faith is the worst curse of mankind, as the exact antithesis and enemy of thought.
Thinking men cannot be ruled.
To rest one's case on faith means to concede that reason is on the side of one's enemies- that one has no rational arguments to offer.
...if devotion to truth is the hallmark of morality, then there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.... the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind.
If Paul Ryan keeps telling us what a tremendous fan he was of the teachings of Ayn Rand we could assume he is not good Catholic, in fact, he is not even a Christian. is that why the Tea Party is so enchanted with him. Seems odd. But then, the Tea Party is odd. Oh, well.

A recipient of Social Security from his teen years and throughout his College years. Now, he thinks no one else should be entitled since he and his Tea Party friends think America's Undeclared Wars should have the funding. A bit extreme and Paranoia views coming from a Party that embraces FORCE over DIPLOMACY . Just Saying

Medicare as it is now: Medicare—like other insurers—can keep its costs—and recipients’ costs—low, by having the largest risk pool possible. That is the beauty of a single-payer system, of which Medicare is a highly successful example.
Re: Ryans Plan: When everyone goes out shopping for variegated, private Medicare plans, they’ll be breaking up the Medicare risk pool into much smaller puddles. Insurers who manage these reduced pools will have less risk to spread around among their customers, so, they’ll inevitably charge higher premiums to cover the additional risk. If I’m not basic actuarial math.
