Under Pressure, Insurer Agrees to Fully Cover Vaccine
Despite months of complaints from doctors, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas would not fully cover the costs for the infant vaccine Prevnar 13, which prevents deadly cases of bacterial pneumonia and meningitis. The company paid for the medicine but denied doctors their overhead costs, meaning physicians lost roughly $20 on every dose.
The company reversed that policy on Monday, announcing it will now cover all costs associated with the vaccine — a practice already followed by all major health insurance companies in the state. BCBS officials issued a statement the same day The Texas Tribune asked them about the reimbursement ...

Dr. Terk could not have said it better regarding BCBS being "purely political" in their sudden approval of paying for the vaccine. The only thing to add is that, once again, the well being of a patient is held hostage by the decisions of a corporation looking out for their bottom line.

We wouldn't need health insurance, outside catastrophic insurance, if we eliminated the insurance companies from the mix. Doctors charge way too much but it's not because they're greedy. It's because the insurance companies are way too greedy. I want to pay my doctor for his services, not some third party. What a scam. This system is bankrupting people left and right.

Thank you,Matthew.Thank all of you who can tell we nurses and other health care peeps don't see all that effing cash flow,ever.Plus we have hours on our feet,not on our rears.It's about the "fat Cats,stupid"...you all say the truth.Also, can/get rid of the ads on TV~save us all from throwing up and save our money,too.Then you could afford more vaccines,greedy bas*****.
