Texans Worry About CHIP Amid Health Care Overhaul
The Affordable Care Act requires states to maintain eligibility requirements for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program through 2019. But Gov. Rick Perry and the Republican Governors Association oppose the provision, and some families in Texas fear children's health care could be in jeopardy. Carter Townes is a 5-year-old cancer patient from Clarksville. He and his family visited Washington, D.C., last week to talk with Sen. John Cornyn about their Medicaid worries.

I hope Carter gets the care and continues to improve.
Shame on you Senator Cornyn! To look into the face of that mother and say noting is going to happen to his eligibility when your pledged to undo his protection. How repugnant!

I would expect that the Good Senator wrung his hands, looked sad, and told them "Sucks that you live in Texas".

So I guess that's the key. We get as many kids as possible to get on camera with Cornyn pledging that they have nothing to worry about, and that their care will go on uninterrupted. Only a total heartless jerk would lie to a sick kid and cut funding to a vital lifeline that they are depending on.

That's why the GOP loves Cornyn; he can lie and smile simultaneously.

Senator Cornyn only cares about his campaign donations!

Wonder how they paid for their trip? They probably could have used the money spent on the trip towards medical treatment for the child. Maybe the trip was financed by the Texas Tribune so they could write this story to fit their agenda.

You think John Cornyn cares about their Medicaid worries? Come on, do you REALLY think he cares, even one iota?!
All he's probably thinking: "Obamacare expands Medicaid, so Medicaid = BAD." Or, more likely, "these people just want free handouts."

He could care less about your family. Wake up Texas.

This past Tuesday Texas decided to strain their conservative soiled pants and dumped Dewhurst. The resulting mayhem unleashed TEA party tremors across the nation. This is an invitation to those Texans looking on in absolute horror that Texans chose extremist fringe over moderate to come over to the inclusive side of the table. One would hope 'ol "Deer in the head lights, Perry" gets removed from office the next go around and replaced with a Democratic governor.

Gee, maybe if I had had free medical care when I had cancer I might have been able to afford a trip to DC.

There are really inane comments here, but Rudy' is the most disgusting. Congrats, your parents must me proud.

@ Ana khan. Didn't have something to say to the point so go to the personal attacks. Why don't you stop attacking others personnally, stop listening to Fox lies and look up the term "cognitive dissonance". Going through life mean, uninformed, and cruel is not very attractive
