Texas Officials Approve Radioactive Waste Site
State officials voted today to allow low-level nuclear waste from around the country to be brought to the Texas-New Mexico border for storage. As Mose Buchele of KUT News reports for StateImpact Texas, the vote put the final touches on a controversial plan approved by the Legislature last year.

Let me get this straight, a billionaire that holds a monopoly of radioactive waste sites in Texas gets the ok from a commission appointed by Rick Perry and the governor of Vermont to transport said waste across Texas highways as early as next month? All while being a major contributor to Perrys' political fund. And we're suppose to believe that Perry can't be bought? Maybe if the coincidences had stopped at the contributions from the makers of the HPV vaccine. But this just re-enforces my opinion that Perry only thinks of himself and not what is best for Texas.

Harold Simmons is a terrorist just as surely as if he put a bomb in a crowded place. How long do we let people like this use corrupt government officials to destroy the environment?

As large as Texas' economy is, there is no reason to allow this waste into the state. This is nightmarish.

Welcome to the new Gilded Age. Texans are governed by an oligarchy.
This is VULTURE CAPITOLISM at its worst.
Harold Simmons is laughing at us all the way to the bank.
