Higher Electricity Prices at Center of Energy Debate
With the arrival of higher temperatures now boosting energy demand in the state, higher electricity prices aren't likely to prove popular with Texans. I think the Tribune should go and ask Sibley who got deregulation passed and said it would lead to lower not higher bills what the hell happened? He said safegurards were into effect

You wrote this report but couldn't get in contact with anyone on these committees? That's some mighty fine reporting.

People need to make certain they are on a Fixed Rate plan that covers the entire summer. When peak demand hits, those extra high "wholesale" costs will be passed on to residents that have variable rate plans, and they will have to pay it.
Deregulation is fine theory when you have a perfectly competitive electricity market, but we all know Texas is far from that. At the time of Edison, government figured out electricity suppliers should be regulated as a Public Utility. It is the only way to prevent market manipulation of the limited number electricity suppliers.
We should end this failed experiment and go back to a regulated market.

so what happens when we are paying more, and we still have rolling blackouts..because THAT is exactly what is going to happen...while their profit sharing at the end of their fiscal year is going to look great to investors and co-op members. This is a load of crap.

Higher electricity rates should never have occurred as Texas has known for over ten years that Texas would have to comply withEPA Clean Air Act. And yet Texas allowed Coal burning plants to be built, when gas prices had and have been going down. Rates are based on Gas rates and that has been going down. Rates should be going down. Rick Perry and the Pansy-Wansy Legislature have gone against the federal government as if they don't have any rights to have any say in the "Clean Air Act." Every TEA-Republican politician in Austin is culpable and responsible for this increase. Fire every TEA-Republican in Austin who voted to go against the federal government's "Clean Air Act." The coal plants that have gone up should be converted at the expense of the owners who knew better.

On a fixed rate plan. You corporate freaks just padding your wallets. If you want us to have blackouts you will make them happen even with your increase

Everybody is in your pocket. We go from one trap to the next .Gasoline going down so here comes the electricity. We the people allow this! How about if we don't use the electricity for a day. Is that a blackout?
