Despite Pollution Worries, Texas Builds Coal Plants
So what if coal, the dirtiest of the fossil fuels, faces tightening air-pollution standards from federal regulators? Texas — probably more than any other state — is aggressively building new coal plants.
A permit recently approved for a coal plant in Matagorda County, known as the White Stallion Energy Center, is one of six granted to projects that are not yet up and running, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, while four more projects — near Abilene, Odessa, Sweeny and Corpus Christi — are seeking permits, including several that plan to store some of their greenhouse gas emissions underground. And it all depends on guys going down into the mines to get it. Low pay/ high risk job.

Let's just shut down all coal plants. When we have our first brown out on a 100 degree day we can open our windows and smell the fresh clean air. By the way you don't want to breath too much because every breath you take releases a greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.

The San Antonio coal plants are about the cleanest around. They were modified years ago to emit only clean air. Additionally the nuclear plants should be expanded as well, while we are waiting for alternative and reliable energy to become more competitive. Domestic drilling should be opened up as well, as we need and can utilize all sources.
The idea of cap and trade or shutting down coal plants would be a stupid move.
