Cross-State Air Pollution Rule Stayed in Texas
A federal court ordered Friday that the Environmental Protection Agency's controversial cross-state air pollution rule be stayed — to the delight of Texas officials and the chagrin of environmentalists.
The rule, which sought to reduce sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions from power plants in Texas and 26 other states, had been scheduled to take effect in January. Now it will await a ruling by the court on its legal merits.
In a statement, Gov. Rick Perry said, "The court was right to stay this highly flawed, job-killing rule that was based on inaccurate and incomplete information."

That sucks! The repubs in TX have no clue that this will affect their health or their children's health, it's all about the $$$$.

No, equal application of the law. The EPA Administrator, making the decision to ensure implementation (conveniently BEFORE the upcoming election) clearly violated the federal laws on the matter. This was STRICTLY a political move by EPA; the stay was perfectly justifiable. That is, unless the environmentalists can find enough Texans to voluntarily forgo air conditioning this summer to allow the plants to be shut down. Any takers?

We need the environmentalists picking up the trash in the AZ desert and the criminal alien trash selling children to market in the child-sex-slave and human smuggling traffickers here in Texas. The EPA is one more rabid political pervert operation under the current criminal syndicate government.
Please God have mercy on us.......Let the Right Rule Soon.

@ Mike:
1) The upcoming election in not until November 2012.
2) Air Pollution does not stop at the state border.
3) Dirty utilities have forecast economic doom and blackouts every time the EPA has ever issued an air or water regulation. Every time! And every single time, they've been wrong. As EPA chief Lisa Jackson is fond of pointing out, in its 40-year history, the Clean Air Act has never yet caused an electric reliability problem. I suppose it's possible that dirty utilities are right this time and independent analysts are wrong, but as a guiding heuristic, "dirty utilities are full of self-serving sh*t" has proven pretty reliable.

Well isn't that real nice! Why is it always about the money and not in the best interest of the people.
That's the repubs. for ya.

conveniently before the election? after being delayed 20 years. Picking up stuff in the desert? Why is it that republicans insist on privatizing profit while socializing the costs? doesnt that make them socialists instead of free market capitalists?
sssdddd
Texas to the world:
To those of you down wind of us and downstream of us.
Fuck you.

Right -- it is obviously the Republicans' fault that the EPA mandated a flawed rule. Never, ever could it be that the EPA in attempting to force a rule on the public got ahead of itself and didn't fully prepare and check their rule prior to initiation. You morons on the left kill me with your idiocy and venom. Tell you what - all of you dumb asses unplug from the grid. Do it today. No AC, No Heat, No Football. Please do it and then shout to the heavens that utilities are bad. Of course, you won't. You will gleefully use the electricity provided while condemning the providers.
Today, as the utilities are providing power with those hated power plants, the air quality in DFW is forecast to be GOOD. GOOD is the highest of ratings per the Texas Air Quality Forecast. Took me all of 15 seconds to get that news. I'll make it easy to find for the retards out there - http://www.tceq.texas.gov/airquality/monops/forecast_today.html.
From that same web page you can go the EPA's on website and what does it say? DFW air quality is at the top of scale. Wow - how can that be? How can the air quality be so good? Got to be wrong - the Environmentalists, US Government and the Libs can't be wrong. Right.

Rick Perry should have his head examined. He has proven several times during this year that he doesn't have the brains(or ethics) God gave a goose.

Blackouts and asthmatic deaths here we come. The same people who say protecting air quality is commie and job killing will complain the loudest when it affects them though.
Mike Openshaw via Texas Tribune on Facebook
John, I guess you weren't in Dallas for the rolling blackouts this winter. Nor those across the West, previous ones across the east, etc. I also guess you haven't been to REALLY polluted environments like Beijing, China, or Kampala, Uganda (I have). And your so-called 'independent' analysts are hardly that.

If this Act passes we could be in for some real trouble and expect increased Texas electricity rates. http:/nationalenergy.net
