"The Senate will decide this session whether to confirm Gail Lowe, R-Lampasas, as chairwoman. Lowe has a lot of explaining to do about the curriculum adoption circus that drew national attention — much of it ridicule — last year. Even Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said Lowe would face a rough time in the Senate." - Austin Statesman, 1/20/11
Well, it sounds like Gov. Perry wants the Senate (especially Senate Democrats) to do his dirty work for him. He probably wants Lowe gone, but he doesn't want the right wing crazies mad at him. Afterall, Perry's running for either Vice President or Ambassador to the Bahamas.
Regardless of the Governor's weak knees, Gail Lowe humiliated Texas last year in those SBOE hearings and embarrassed us before the entire nation. She could have put a stop to it. She didn't. The Senate needs to bust her and if all 12 Democrats hang together, she is toast.

"I'm not good at crossing the aisle and working with those who hold opposite but also very strong principles," she said. "I recognize that we hold very different opinions and I'm just not very good at the compromise. I'm just not good at forging that and I think other board members are. And I appreciate their role. And it does make it easier for me to say, you're willing to come this far, I'm willing to come that far."
