UT-Austin Files Brief in Case on Admissions Policy
On Monday, the University of Texas at Austin filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in response to a case that questions the role race plays in its admissions process. After the filing, UT-Austin President Bill Powers took to YouTube to express his confidence in the legality of university's current policies.
In 2008, Abigail Fisher, the plaintiff in the case, filed suit alleging that she had been denied admission to the university because she is white. The university uses race as part of a holistic review of applicants who aren't automatically admitted under a state law ...

All I know is that Tate Wilkinson who is the best of us, Top Ten, Great Extra Curricular, Great Athlete and a third Generation Legacy did not get in to UT! He was accepted every where else!!! He loves A&M and is thriving in College Station!!!! There is a reason for all things. All things work together for good!!!!

I'm not exactly hearing complaints of needing. High Grade Point Average,I'm hearing of difficulties(many, many) os places to live.Your ratings dropped, and you "top tier" won't last much longer when parents cannot have peace of mind when leaving their"children" for their first year of College(as a number, yet). Please GET IT TOGETHER!

Thanks for your concern, Mary Lynn. I hope your student finds housing soon.
Please be advised that UT doesn't have final say on how many students it admits: this is determined in large part by the Legislature's wishes and policies. To compound the problem, until very recently the City of Austin had zoning restrictions that discouraged the building of apartments near campus. That is changing, though not quickly enough to accommodate all the students who need housing. For what it's worth, this fall will see one of the largest freshman classes ever to come to Austin.

Of course, race plays a part in Colleges and Universities applications - it applies to both students and faculty. Diversity is a PC requirement and won't change anytime soon. Get used to it.
