I do not doubt former Comptroller John Sharp's loyalty and appreciation to his alum. However, I smell a political pay-off. Sharp should of run last term for governor. It was his best chance and RP gave him a study group.

It's kind of nice to see a story about something other than Rick Perry. I'm already tired of all the press he's getting.

I'd much rather see Sharp as president than Perry.

Hope to see results which support the faculty at one of our tier-one public research universities and truly invests in improving the quality of education for our students. Yet this sentiment is not limited to Texas A&M, it includes UT as well. Higher education in Texas needs to be supported and not be allowed to be influenced by a few special interests groups. All stakeholders need to be involved. Wish John Sharp well!

@ A.:You're absolutely right! Yet the turmoil at the flagship has spilled over to the others in the system. All of higher education is under assault, beginning with funding, and Texas A&M has also had to "endure" the 7 "breakthrough solutions" in a lopsided manner as well.
