The Community Colleges Of Texas also Discriminate those who are Disabled. If you are Disabled and you recieve FA, and have to take time out to recover from your Disability , they make it impossible for you to return. They want you to pay for 72 Credit Hours on your own. Noting that your Average Disabled individual is making less than 700.00 a month and has to pay bills makes this that much harder. I am Disbabled and my Disability income is slightly higher than the average, yet still presents a challenge. Richland Community College Of DCCCD Discriminated me and told me after giving them Drs information after suffering from Spinal Degeneration, and having to sit out the semester, to return, I would have to pay for 72 Credit Hours and then they would revisit restating my FA. This was the decision of the Vice President. This has been a hard task to find the extra funding, at this time , ive not found the funds. It makes one think they are not interested in advancing education and more interested in supporting a system that cannot support itself, Federal Social Security System. Ive been trying so hard to gain a skilled education so I can at some point in my life obtain work , to get off of Disability. Theyre not making it easy. The Disability Services Department there was useless to me. They sat on their Butts. When I would go to them to get help with the issue they just looked at me with lost looks. Frustration was a ongrowing factor for me with them. I tried so hard. If anyone has answers , that might help me, I would be very happy to get back to College.
