Yep

if there legal citizens anyone can vote as long as you have a semi clean record, no felonies and stuff like that. but if your illegaly here than no you cant vote for anything or anyone. you have to a be a citizen.

@ JoAnn there could be a case that WE are the undocumented immigrants...felons can't vote anyway, regardless...

@JoAnn, people like you never miss an opportunity to espouse crusty, anti-Hispanic sentiment, now do you? I couldn't be happier that your demographic is on the cusp of being politically marginalized for the rest of the century. Seriously. It'll be a wondrous occasion. The end of the Southern Strategy in Texas. Hallelujah!
Anyways, undocumented workers should be allowed to vote in statewide elections regardless of citizenship status. I can't stand when non-right-wingers in Texas get cowed into this "if they're legal, then yes; if not, nope" defense.
Undocumented workers work, they pay payroll taxes, sales tax, they create value, and if that's not enough, they also happen to, you know, live in the same society as 'documented' Texans and thus should have a say as to how its run.
Then there's the whole pretty-convincing argument that Anglos in Texas are living on (relatively recently) stolen ground from Mexico.

Conner i hate how right wingers say that the "immgrants are taking our jobs" when there not.

Anyone who is concerned about the future of Texas should watch Steve's presentation. Given the continuing demographic changes that will occur, the presentation should prepare one for what lies ahead and one would hope allow our leadership to prepare for this changes. I would hope the PowerPoint slides will be made available.

This is all very interesting, but a small minority of Hispanics (legal or otherwise) ever turn out to vote and there's no reason to believe that trend won't continue. I agree with them that voting is overrated.

Every Texas legislator and Governor Perry should be forced to view Steve Murdock's presentation prior to voting to cut education funding. They may benefit too from changing their current views towards the minorities who will be in charge of everything from being CEOs to holding caretaker jobs caring for our current leaders as they enter nursing homes. Republicans better get ready for a major push back for the way our leaders current attitudes and behavior.

"undocumented workers should be allowed to vote" LOLOLOLOLOL So much to learn and so little time........You obviously haven't been in the workforce yet....until then, mom and dad can keep you living in style..

The GOP's idea of "shared sacrafice" ... The poor sacrafice their food. The middle-class sacrafice their family savings and retirement. The wealthy sacrafice their tax burden.
C Baker
FYI, The middle class doesn't have any savings or retirement left because they've been too busy working like dogs, trying to keep their heads above water, paying for the free food, education and medical care for new people invading from Foreign Countries that won't take care of their own people.....If you don't like it now, just wait, soon there will be only two classes just like in Mexico....
