EPA: Great Lakes Restoration Initiative is Succeeding

In a report to Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency said the first five years of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative have resulted in better water quality, cleanups of contaminated shorelines, protection and restoration of native habitat and species as well as better control of invasive species. The initiative, which began in 2010 as a way to boost efforts to protect and restore the world's largest system of surface freshwater, has implemented more than 2,500 projects.
