Saving the Cypresses After the Blanco Flood

Experts from the Texas A&M Forest Service are warning that quick removal of the cypress trees felled by the Blanco River flood will cause further harm, as the roots may still have life in them.

Experts from the Texas A&M Forest Service are warning that quick removal of the cypress trees felled by the Blanco River flood of May 24-25 will cause further harm, as the roots may still have life in them and can foster new growth. A bulletin prepared after the flood advises against removal of damaged trees except in cases where they may present a safety hazard and warns that heavy construction equipment may harm the living roots of the trees.
