Experts on water conservation and agriculture say that stewardship of private rural lands is the key to the future of conserving water in Texas, where 95 percent of the land is privately owned. Farms, ranches and forests make up 83 percent of the state's privately owned land. Good stewards, they say, make every drop of rain count, which benefits not only the landowners but the state's water resources. (txH2O)
