Farmers' Wells in California Could Run Dry

A study by the Center for Watershed Sciences at the University of California, Davis, concluded that farmers may see their wells run dry if the state remains parched for the next two years.

A study by the Center for Watershed Sciences at the University of California, Davis, concluded that farmers, who are using more groundwater for irrigation as the drought diminishes reservoirs and canals, may see their wells run dry if the state remains parched for the next two years. Already, farmers have left nearly 430,000 acres unplanted this year. (The Associated Press)
