Massachusetts Forgoes Common Core Test

After decades leading the nation’s creation and adoption of common core standards, Massachusetts’ board of education has decided to forgo use of a shared, multi-state assessment to measure students’ mastery of those standards. The Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, required millions of dollars to develop and deploy, but the state will nevertheless walk away, choosing state-created assessments that have yet to be developed. (The New York Times)
