In response to newly elected politicians’ campaign promises to invest in education, clinical psychologist Donna Housman uses empirical data to illustrate three elements of early childhood learning that could be incorporated into a policy plan to expand pre-K initiatives. Her recommendations include offering services to children prior to age 4, adding emotional and social development to learning plans and ensuring curriculum is developmentally appropriate.
