Many states slashed education budgets during the throes of the 2007-09 recession, but seven years later school funding has failed to return to former levels. According to a report from the Center on Budget Policy Priorities, at least 30 states continue to provide schools less funding per student in the aftermath of the Great Recession. Negative consequences include a decrease in the quality of education and widespread school layoffs. (Huffington Post)
