Interactive: Texas Super PAC Recipients Treemap

Following up on our previous treemap visualization of Super PAC contribution data, we have prepared another way to analyze the data.

Using data provided by the Sunlight Foundation, this interactive shows the top 10 Super PACs that have received money from Texas donors and presents all of the donors who gave at least $10,000 to those groups.

The data represents all contributions up to July 31. The most recent report, which covered all July activity, showed that Houston homebuilder Bob Perry gave another $2 million to the pro-Mitt Romney PAC Restore Our Future. Robert Rowling, the owner of TRT Holdings, based in Irving, gave $1 million under his own name and another $1 million under his company’s name to the pro-GOP American Crossroads. Overall, Texans gave $5.9 million.

Each Super PAC is represented by a color group. And each cell of the graph lists the name of the contributor and the name of the Super PAC. For cells that are too small to read, hover your mouse over the area to see a pop-up with the information.
