Revisiting "Sanctuary Cities" in Texas Policy
Despite a budget shortfall that could hit $27 billion, Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday declared enhancing private property rights and abolishing "sanctuary cities" as emergency priorities, enabling them to be fast-tracked through the legislative process. "Immigration laws and their enforcement are the responsibility of the federal government ... but we cannot compound their failure by preventing Texas peace officers from doing their jobs," Perry told lawmakers.
This isn't the first time the governor's made sanctuary cities an issue. He brought them up in his 2009 State of the State address and criticized his 2010 Democratic opponent, former Houston Mayor ...

Texas policy is different than Houston policy because it is different. Why is it different? Well, because of the differences, mainly. The differences differ.

"Immigration laws and their enforcement are the responsibility of the federal government" - Perry
I'm confused...thought the Gov didn't want any strings attached to Washington....does this mean he doesn't wish to secede now?

Of course this Governor (and I use that term loosely) continues to be a Governor for all Republicans, and generally diseregards the rest of us. Of course, when we have a budget deficit that is stunningly large, he focuses on issues that are meant to divide us. He continues to pander to the dogma of the fringe right, rather than governing. This man rather than doing his job, would rather divide his citizens all in the name of pushing his dogma on a national level.
If you are a Democrat, he has no desire to be your governor,
If you are of latin descent, he has no desire to be your governor,
If you are a person of color, he has no desire to be your governor,
If you disagree, he has no desire to listen to you,
That he has to lie about Houston's policy in order to pander to the fringe, is of little concern for him. That he has to distort facts is just standard operating proceedure.
He will never be a great leader, but an excellent rabble rouser!

We need a Gov with some real balls. Jan Brewer would be great!
