Perry: "Deferred Action" Doesn't Change State Policies
Gov. Rick Perry advised state agencies on Monday that despite the Obama administration’s “deferred action” policy allowing illegal immigrants a two-year reprieve from deportation and a renewable work permit, Texas' policies on individuals in the country illegally remain unchanged.
Perry's rebuke of the president's plan, which he called a "slap in the face to the rule of law," comes a week after it took effect.
“To avoid any confusion on the impact of the Obama administration's actions, I am writing to ensure that all Texas agencies understand that Secretary Napolitano's guidelines confer absolutely no legal ...

But he is wrong. Under Texas law a person with deferred Action can get a driver's licence.

What an arrogant jerk. "I won't take their money", but then I do. I won't give an inch under the President's order, then I must. And as Johana said... Generally he is wrong... just tries to pump up his tea-party friends, and leave Texas to the last place in US society.

A drivers license has a longer lifespan than the deferred Action policy. That means if deferred action is rejected in the future these people would have licenses that would be invalid technically. Your license could not be valid for any longer than you are allowed to be in the country and would expire on the date your green card expires. I support giving them licenses ,,, that way we can tell when their status expires and if stopped for a traffic violation they could then be detained and undergo deportation proceedings. Even though Obama has instituted this deferment , it is doubtful it will be extended or expanded to a complete amnesty, and the order could be rescinded totally by Congress. The best thing for all illegal aliens is to return to your countries of origin and apply legally,,, you will be further ahead in the long lines rather than waisting time hanging out here. There are literally millions all over the world already in line.

The truth about enforcing Texas laws is a farce. There are thousands of non-residents of Texas who apply and receive Lone Star cards and free medical services under the guise of WIC, handicapped or unemployed. Border towns are hard hit with fraud. It is very common for food shoppers driving Mexican plated cars to use Lone Star cards to buy carts full of cereal boxes, 20 or more 12 packs of sodas, 30 to 50 bags of rice and beans, etc. etc. Either they have a Mom and Pop store or restaurant in Mexico for which we Texans are paying for.
Also, deferred action is an immigration administrative law that does legally give undocumented aliens a "parole" status in the U.S. which makes them eligible for work authorization. Meaning, they will be paying social security and taxes. If they buy property, they will also pay property taxes. Keep in mind that many foreign students along the northern and southern borders may list a friend or relative's house as their residence in order to gain a free American education.
Just saying.....

Funny letter from Perry to Abbott about the rule of law and prosecutorial discretion on this deferred action. Increasingly, the law has done away with smoke and mirrors and breaks the law with impunity, making it clear there is no law in Texas. Prosecutorial discretion is the doctrine of simply doing as they please and calling it legal.

This action by Perry is nothing but a political move based on hatred towards Obama. Perry has not missed an opportunity to attack and to oppose any proposal or order, or initiative by the president, only because Obama is not white. With this, Perry is showing he is a brainless and heartless individual. These kids, whether we like it or not are part of the future of Texas and the United States. They get hurt but they are only losing a battle not the whole war because soon or later they will have the opportunity to change their legal status. It is not they want to be undocumented. They are Americans by "feelings." They come from different countries but deep in their hearts are true Americans.
Perry belongs in the same bracket where sheriff Arpaio belongs, with the hyenas.

How do illegal immigrants attend public schools in America, paid by American tax dollars, with no legal documentation to present to school districts? How do they get free healthcare when I, a natural born American citizen must show I'd, have medical insurance or cash, or be billed for services before service is rendered? Even if I go to an emergency room somebody has to pay the bills. How do people who ate hete illegally get away with breaking the laws?

I agree with the governors of Texas and Arizona. Over a million people who are here illegally have the audacity to protest and show their faces. That can be compared to a person who committed a crime holding a news conference telling law enforcement to kiss their feet cause they can't arrest them. The American people should come together and support these two governors.

Dora Sanchez, if they are not legal how can they get a social security number, legally? Why don't they go to Mexico and protest against their own government for a better way of life and stop leeching off of the American people?
