Perry Urges Obama to Address Surge in Immigrant Minors
Citing an unprecedented level of unaccompanied illegal-immigrant minors breaching the U.S.-Mexico border, Gov. Rick Perry sent a letter Friday asking the Obama administration to address the “humanitarian crisis.”
Calling the issue a byproduct of Obama’s failed effort to secure the border, Perry cites recent media reports that indicate 5,200 unaccompanied and illegal-immigrant minors crossed into the country during the first six months of the 2012 fiscal year, including 1,300 in March alone. It is unclear from the letter how many minors crossed into Texas.
“To be clear, Texas has been working diligently to protect the ...

Oh puh-leeze. Perry has never given a flip about migrants. He's just looking for traction against Obama on behalf of his party. {sheesh}

It's just Slick Rick being... well Slick Rick.

Rick, you're such a transparent idiot. Illegal border traffic is down to a trickle. Why so worried about Mexican teens now? (See SC's comment above.)

Yes, that's why he cares so much about immigration. For the children.....

Of course, it would help if people HERE would vaccinate against measles. As the billboard says,vaccine-preventable disease is just a plane ride (or border crossing) away.

People migrate. They have for thousands of years. The question is are we compassionate and rational or paranoid, like the inventors of the Berlin Wall?
Andy Garza via Texas Tribune on Facebook
No the question is whether we are going to enforce legal immigration or not
Aldo Merino via Texas Tribune on Facebook
We do, so that's a pretty simple question you've conjured up.

Mexico has been growing rapidly and these days the average income is up to about $10,000 per year. That is better then in the past but in the state of Texas, these kids are eligible for a free elementary education (market value = $10,000 per year) and also subsidized college education (value of about $20,000 per year). Thus the education available on your side of the line would costs more than a whole years income for your average Mexican. We can leave aside the other welfare goodies a smart person has access to. Naturally, with this situation, if you were a dirt poor Mexican parent and you want the best chance in life for little Junior what is the commonsense thing to do? You are running a free all you-can-eat buffet. This is why you got yourself a 10 fold increase in the number of unaccompanied minors coming over your borders in recent months. It is simple Market economics. The Mexicans have figured out a good thing and they are going to keep coming and swamping your school and university systems. Pretty soon the majority of the students you are educating with your tax dollars will be foreigners and you will have no money left for your own. At that point you will figure out that you can't really afford it and there will be an outcry. This already happened in AZ. There the local government is spending about $1 Billion educating illegal aliens ( this is from a total state budget of 8.3 billion). You are digging a deeper and deeper hole for yourselves. So take your damn heads out of the sand.

Well I am just "moved" by Slick Rick's empathic concern for this "humanitarian" crisis. Of course, by moved I mean needing to go to the bathroom. Sorry Ricky ol'boy, but your lies and drama are no longer believed. Furthermore, your lies/drama/rhetoric, like you are no longer relevant to the citizens you pay lip service to representing. OK, perhaps a few Tparty crazies and the klan find you relevant. Like the boy who called woof, this is all just you still trying to play Presidential politics! This despite the fact that the republican party sent you packing back to Texas. Ricky, it must be disappointing to realize your beloved republicans chose Mitt Romney over you. Guess they believed he was a better man. (Granted it's a low bar, but when your a Texas Republican, you have to start somewhere)!
As to your humanitarian crisis caused by "Obama," lets look at a few facts (you must hate the word facts):
1. The net flow of immigrants has stopped or has reversed. Unlike Bush, this President has stopped the flow of illegal immigration. Admittedly the Bush Recession is a large part of the underlying reason for this change.
2. Obama approximately 1.2 million deportations in 3 years. Bush 1.6 million in eight
3. You have never shown compassion for undocumented children before, why now?
So, Governor (and I use the term loosely), again your most recent attempt to play Presidential politics also ends in failure. Poor Ricky, did that truth thing spoil your fear mongering? Perhaps you can go to a nursing home and scare little old ladies with tales of death panels and socialism. Afterward, please take my suggestion: do us all a favor and take Dick "deficits don't matter Cheney" hunting at your hunting ranch. Now what was the name of that ranch?

Well what do you expect when they know our leaders may give a amnesty to the illegal alien children. I say deport all illegal aliens and there children it is law they have broken from the last amnesty.
Anyone but Obama and lying democrats!

Once again, the Conservatives “create” a problem, waste million of taxpayer monies for their crazy causes, then when the problems arise and/or backfire........ they RUN to the federal Government to bail them out.

Where can someone send a letter demanding Perry step down for his catastrophic failures as Do Nothing Governor. He and his party have been sitting like kings while their shoot to kill (literally and figuratively) tactics have been a menace to people, animals, agencies, land, health.
How many easily available media reports have depicted the governor, crony appointees, police , border agents, AND state park rangers shooting or pulling out weapons, tasers on whoever is on their "anti" list ? The list includes grandmas, children, animals, illegals, etc.
Perry needs a demand letter to step out of public office because he's only catering to his rich cronies and to heck with the citizens of Texas.

The Berlin was built by the USSR to keep the people of the East captive within the USSR. There is a difference between a government enslaving its own people and the people empowering the government to protect them from immigrants who are coming in illegally - without vaccinations, without jobs or places to live, and, oftentimes, under duress or due to human trafficking. It's doubtful that any of these unaccompanied minors are coming here for school - whether free K-12 or in state tuition for college.
