Obama Will Begin Push for Immigration Reform
At tonight's Rose Garden celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Barack Obama said he intended to begin work on "comprehensive immigration reform" this year, even though many administration observers predicted the issue was too controversial to tackle following the bloody battle over health care reform legislation:
I know there’s been some commentary over the last week since I talked about this difficult issue: Well, is this politically smart to do? Can you get Republican votes? Look, of course, it’s going to be tough. That’s the truth. Anybody who tells you it’s going to be easy or ...

Call it reform if you want but big business (Rs & Ds) likes status quo. They want cheap labor at others expense. Plus the drug and human trafficking. POTUS is happy because it screws the unions and takes away the incentive of others.

Cheers to our president for having a party for good friends in the Rose Garden. It's time for people to stop being so hateful and stupid.

You can't handle the Mexicans in the U.S. now, do you really want Spanish to be our official language? I could live with that.

the US wants the benefits of cheap labor (construction, nannies, maids, produce), but does not want to think about the cost of those benefits. THAT is why we have an immigration problem. carol ann i don't know what planet you live on, but most undocumented workers from mexico bust their asses for what little they have, often risking their lives and leaving their families for a shot at working for a wage they cannot earn in their own country.

Carolann, I think you mean "their", dear. And I believe they pay for their own homes and food. However, I do agree with you on the continuous healthcare scams pulled by undocumented workers. It's even well known and propagated amongst illegals that they have the option of never paying their medical bills, and they exploit it to the Nth degree. It has become a HUGE problem. I would like to see something done about that in the upcoming Immigration Reform. And ROSS: As a guy raised in BOTH cultures, let me just officially state this: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!! The USA would be on the losing end of that equation, big time.
