Texas' "Limited Term" Driver's Licenses Draw Concerns
The Texas Department of Public Safety’s classification of licenses for some legal residents as “limited term” documents is drawing criticism from some who claim the department is going against stated policy.
The documents in question are being issued to some after proving they are in the country legally when applying for driver’s licenses or state identification cards. The label “limited term” is at the top of the applicant’s license. I enjoy dealing with people from other countries. I find many of them fascinating, and the discussions of their travels and experiences to be interesting. But as someone who, as a U.S. Citizen, has lived in other countries, I just have to ask something that some might not consider "politically correct."
When I lived in Germany, I had to abide by German laws. If I didn't like it, I could leave. When living in Japan, we had to abide by their laws and regulations. If we didn't like it, our options were: 1) deal with it, or 2) leave. When in England, or Switzerland, or where ever we were, it was the same thing. And don't EVEN get me started about France!
Why is it different here?
Why are our laws, which apply to everyone here, somehow discriminatory of foreign nationals? Why do we have to put up with arguments about how illegal aliens are being "mistreated" by our laws? Why is it a "concern" that a drivers livense that has a limited term says so?
I no other country in the world do it's citizens put up with foreigners coming in an whining about things like we seem to have to.
I'm not trying to be misanthropic or xenophobic. I'm just asking a question that I don't see being openly and reasonably discussed by reasonable people.
Why is it an issue when a foreigner's rights are different than a citizens rights? Why is it a "concern" when non citizens are identified as such?
When I was in France, I was definitely an American, and I was treated like I was an American! I didn't like it, so I left. THAT was my choice. I went; I saw; I experienced; I left -- and I won't go back. When I was in Germany, I was treated like an American (even when I tried to act German and speak German). It was okay, so I stayed. I went; I saw; I experienced; I stayed for a while -- and if the chance came to go back, I might. Ditto with England (and then some)!
When foreign nationals come into this country, which I and my family for many generations have worked to build and support, in order to take advantage of the opportunities which are here, why should I feel somehow guilty because these temporary visitors don't have all of the rights that I and my children have? If some reasonable individual can explain that, I'd appreciate it!

It is possible or probable, who knows, that Alan Polunksy ( I am not sure if he is still in office) Chairman of the DPS, was instigated (very difficult to prove since we are not in his mind) to enact this policy. Due to the outcry by some groups like MALDEF, the policy was put on hold until was introduced as a bill before the Legislature. Gov. Perry like Pontius Pilate "washed his hands" on this one, and Polunsky looked like the bad guy; even some groups believe ( they will not say it for the record) was Perry's idea, Polunksy said was his. @Bert; I have a question -- perhaps I'm missing something in your comments... Here goes: if you can't tell what race they are BEFORE you see their drivers license, then how will "limited term" ON the license make a difference? If you are going to profile someone because they're "browner than a really taned white dude," then that happens long before you have a clue what is on their license.

Bert, Since there is no designation of race on a drivers license , how is this helpful in racial profiling? Once again apparently race is being confused with legal status. Racial profiling , as we all know , occurs when a law enforcement officer of a particular race , sees a driver of a different race behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. This could be a black officer stopping a white driver, or white stopping brown ., or Asian stopping either one. This happens before the stop is made , not after. Race is the primary justification for the stop to begin with , whether legal or not . What is on your license or whether you have one or not is secondary and incidental.

In a new study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), The State of Arizona has efficiently reversed the influx of illegal aliens by instituting state laws intended to depress mass illegal migrants and immigrants from residing or remaining in the state. So the question is, where are they going? Is it not ‘poetic justice’ for want of a better word that unknown numbers of illegal aliens are heading for the so-called Sanctuary States of California or Nevada? Already these Border States are under the massive burden of the illegal alien invasion from South of the border. My guess is they will flee to the Liberal fortresses, mainly the bastions of Los Angeles county and San Francisco with ordinances such as "special Order 40". An Ordinance concocted by a previous Chief of Police Daryl Gates, saying in summary that local police cannot ask anybody that is under suspicion, their immigration status? Even though what the LAPD is doing is illegal, Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano, both egomaniacs have ignored immigration laws. So Californians with have to grin and bear it, unlike other states as Alabama, Georgia, Utah, Indiana, South Carolina as leaders of the anti-illegal immigration campaign to stop welfare predators and the advancement of fiscal unfunded mandates.
California populace seems completely oblivious to the billions of dollars going out the door, forced on them by the courts, as they have in 44 other states. The Liberal politician in Sacramento need to be shown the exit door as their misguidance has brought upon Californian taxpayers a 13 billion dollar deficit. Unfortunately the word has spread throughout the world, that if a Mother of an unborn child can pass agents at entry points, then they can claim the misguided law that says they can award their baby with all the free benefits associated with citizenship. Billions of dollars are appropriated in this way for the whole family. They are very well versed that for every child they can birth, there is a cornucopia of cash payments and public assistance programs. Under The Birthright Citizenship Bill” ( H.R.140) we can finally bring an end to these expensive deficits, laid upon every state taxpayer.
Now with Arizona's positive draconian enforcement policing laws, illegal aliens are fleeing to the Liberal welcoming arms of California and states that have disregarded the pleading message from their populations. Two main laws must find passage by the “THE PEOPLE’S PARTY, the growing Tea Party, and all Constitutional Conservative Americans are sick and tired of supporting people who broke into this country, from every corner of the world. It is an unrelenting bombardment of dire poverty, which the courts have coerced all of us into paying for other countries desperate and poor. School fees, health care, prison cells and growing list including President Obama's agenda of food stamps for all. They slip past immigration agents at entry points as disguised tourist with hidden fetuses and immediately apply for their baby’s citizenship. That then allows them to collect all the public assistance programs and get free treatments in delivery rooms, leaving the taxpayers to carry the fees. They steal our Social Security numbers, which in itself is a felony, but under USICS (Immigration & Citizenship Services) thousands have been allowed to stay, even though they have used other people's ID. This is not a victimless crime, as unknown numbers of ordinary Americans have had their credit crippled, by this serious violation. Remember we are not only importing the poor of other countries, but the criminals as well. The drug cartels are spillling over into America and impregnating our children with filthy drugs. In our prisons are the murderers, child pedifiles, the hit and run drunken drivers, theives and a whole host of individuals. Frontier states have the larger share of home invasion robberies, kidnappings and many other crimes that was less know until this invasion.
I hope that California residents realize there being cheated out of billions of dollars annually? Just ask Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Andronovich of not just millions, but billions of dollars annually being collected by foreign nationals. No wonder Los Angeles County has to folk out $48.000.000 dollars in just the month of June 2009. Is there any record of what the cost would be currently, with the deluge already here and the 500.000 estimate that appear each year looking for their free handouts? Risk a few minutes of your time and find the Website “American Patrol”, and investigate the news that is suppressed by the majority Liberal Press. Also scan through NUMBERSUSA website and see the grading system for Romney, Gingrich, Santorum and Paul and their stance on enforcement of immigration laws? Call your US Senator or House Representative today or even contact your State equivalent, and insist they sponsor E-Verify and the Birthright citizenship bills and be prepared for indifference.States like California are pampering illegal aliens, have numerous times pro-illegal immigrant advocacy groups has tried to pass a law to allow these people to apply for drivers licenses, but the previous governors have veto'ed any passage. Texas should not entertain giving licenses or any priviledges, to anybody as the state of New Mexico or Washington state, because it just attracts even more violations of the law?

Many blame undocumented immigrants for the lack of jobs in our country saying that they take jobs that belong to the American workers.
Many Americans don't even consider filling jobs that only foreigner want to do and do, for one. Examples are for the thousands and thousands. Just look at Georgia, Alabama, South and North Carolina, among other states going nuts in search of help.
But the main things is, most jobs were sent overseas at least ten years ago, where people in one day of work earns $5.00. Do anyone knows where Apple, for instance, has its iPhones made? Around how many people interpreted the amendment to mean that DPS would stop issuing a different license to non-citizens? And how many people are actually claiming the department is going against stated policy? Are there any estimates? Is this as big an issue as the article is portraying?
