Ahead of Session, "Sanctuary Cities" Debate Renews
As state lawmakers began pre-filing bills Monday, opponents of state-based immigration legislation said that a U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding a tenet of a controversial Arizona law would not automatically pave the way for Texas’ "sanctuary cities" bill to pass.
The bill, which Gov. Rick Perry twice placed on his list of emergency items in 2011, would have denied state funds to local or state entities that prevented their law enforcement officers from inquiring into the immigration status of a person arrested or detained. It failed to pass both times.
In June, the high court ruled that a provision ...

I don’t think the Republicans or even the Democrats backed by the Liberal-Socialists, which the Tea Party is emanating, have grown in leaps and bounds to around 41 million voters. The American people are sick and tired of either political parties not listening and there is rising resentment out there? Neither the GOP nor Democrats have enforced immigration laws since the devastating Regan amnesty of 1986. All the promises and lip service have been lies and the Tea Party are no longer listening to the entrenched corruption in the Congress. They could have passed “THE LEGAL WORKFORCE BILL” that would have ejected some of the illegal aliens out of jobs, making way for citizens and permanent residents. They could alter by Amendment the Birthright citizenship Act” but it hasn't been implemented to stop the smuggling of babies accumulating citizenship to further propagate the growing national state and federal financial deficits. Those morons on the beltway have never carried out the law to construct the U.S. border fence, according to the Bush 2006 SECURE FENCE ACT and instead deliberately defunded its construction.
MY QUESTION IS: What happens to the honest, sincere, immigrants who respects our laws, respects the rights of a country and wait patiently for years to receive a visa for legal entry…doesn’t that mean anything anymore? Why are we allowing poverty to come here, stealing people’s identities, jobs and the criminals committing crimes and then being—REWARDED?
AMERICANS HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY LIED TO, SO WE REALLY HAVE A DIVIDED COUNTRY. NOT SINCE THE CIVIL WAR. ITS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SINCE THE ELECTION Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Missouri filed petitions at the White House web site asking to secede from the United States as a result of Obama’s re-election.
They could have made illegal immigration into this country a felony, instead of a misdemeanor. Hate to say it, but at least President Obama has deported around a million, or is that also another lie. This administration at one time instructed ICE to raid businesses that were in violation of our immigration laws. Both parties today have aided and abetted illegal immigration and Obama’s preferential treatment by bypassing Congress and offering the Dream Act. I trust neither political party anymore, as corruption has become rampant in Washington. Perhaps if a politicians son, daughter were molested, a wife kidnapped or a grandparent crushed under the wheels of illegal alien drunken driver they might feel different. But Americans, not our public servants who live in gated communities are not confronted by these foreign criminals every day on our nation’s highways. I dumped the Democrats over 20 years ago, looking for a true conservative party and I located that in the Tea Party.

I can't wait to see what legislation our fine Governor decides is an "emergency" this year.

enough is enough...It is our country....If illegals don't like our rules...take the whole damn family home and tell your own government you want public housing, food and soal security.ou

Wow. The GOP will never get the Hispanic vote with this anti-immigration stance.

Sanctuary city "supporters" should get "up to speed" on current United States law and previous U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
Critics of Arizona's law state that state and local police have no authority to detain and ask people about their immigration status. They are wrong.
In Mueller v. Mena, 544 US 93 (2005), SCOTUS ruled unanimously that state and local law enforcement officers may indeed ask about the immigration status of detained person.
In Gonzales v. City of Peoria, 722 F2d 468, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals held that local law enforcement officers are permitted to enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Naturalization Act.
Further rebuttal of claims that local/state police lack of authority can be found in a Department of Justice memo of April 3, 2002 which concludes that "states have an inherent power, subject to federal preemption, to make arrests for violation of federal law." That memo continues to be in effect as of this date.
As per all of the above precedents, local law enforcement DOES have the right to inquire about the immigration status of any and all detained personnel.

I support legal immigration NOT illegal immigration. I hope our leaders send the law breaker back to the end of the line and NO TO AMNESTY.

Think About this Americans If you allow one law to be broken then none of our laws mean NOTHING.

“Legally speaking it’s important to note that it was only the preemption issue that was taken up by the Supreme Court; so [the bill] will have to be implemented in a way that does not have any racial profiling or impact on Latinos, which is going to be very difficult to do,” he said.
Being that the majority of people detained and possibly deported will be of Latino decent I would have to say that this law would have a disproportionate effect on Latinos since there will be less Asians caught and deported,, and certainly no American Citizens will be deported.
The only way it would not have a disproportionate effect is to deport one Latino for every illegal of a different ethnic group.
This election the Hispanic vote was bought and paid for by the Obama Amnesty for all illegal " children" up to age 30 and the promise of amnesty for all illegals regardless of age.
It has always amazed me that while espousing the need for illegal aliens and the great benefits they bring to this country, their advocates totally ignore the negative aspects of the illegal invasion.
They work doing jobs that do not pay adequate living wages, thus HELPING America. If they do not earn living wages then how do they live? On the one hand advocates use this as proof they are needed,, on the other hand they do not explain how these people exist on wages Americans could not live on.
So either they do earn enough to live on or they are being subsidized in some manner .In either case this dispels the notion they are all working in low wage jobs,,,,are self supporting and contribute to the economy in a positive manner if they are actually doing jobs Americans will not do..
They do the jobs Americans will not do. This is false. Americans will not frame houses , lay brick, build roads, construct high rise buildings, or any other construction related occupation? The only true part is that they probably will not for the wages paid when an illegal will work for 40% less. Illegals did not build this country,, Americans did whether they were born here or legal immigrants who came in the front door. We are being told that without large numbers of Immigrants in general we will not survive. Basically the message about illegal aliens is ,,,,You have not enforced the laws previously, so it would be unkind or immoral to enforce them now. Because the laws have not been enforced this somehow lends legitimacy to their claims they have been encouraged to come .
Labor is a function of supply and demand. When there is more supply than demand prices go down. When supply is relatively equal to demand prices remain stable and even rise with the increasing cost of living.
Migrant labor has always been needed and was beneficial in the past to both migrants and American Citizens. In many cases they are paid less than living wages for agricultural work. Living wages in this country,, not in the country of origin. When the system worked most of them came here and earned enough money for several months worth of work to live for the entire year in Mexico. They did the work and returned home until the next season. The problems arose when they began to not return home and stayed here yearlong. They did begin to take higher paying jobs in order to earn the wages necessary to stay here yearlong. This created a labor imbalance mainly in construction related industries which in most cases do not require much formal education but rather simple work experience. Most of this work is skilled , but only requires repetition and specific training to acquire proficiency.
Statistics prove that Hispanics have family units roughly double that of Non - Hispanics. All agree that whether they work in agriculture or other industries they do earn less than Americans in general, roughly half median income. This simple fact says they do not contribute enough resources to cover their cost to society in general. Having twice the children requires twice the resources for the educational system. Given our education system in Texas is funded mainly off property taxes , putting twice the number of people requiring educational services into a property that only produces enough tax revenue to support half as many creates a deficit . People earning half a living wage can only spend half as much at best,,, thus tax revenue from other sources such as sales taxes are reduced in relation to those services utilized by the public at large.
More people earning less , but requiring the same services or increased services from government in general creates a situation where those who earn less cannot afford to pay more to pay for the shortfall. Those people who still are earning more end up having to make up the difference. As those who earn more become less in number increasing burdens are placed on the remaining people who actually have disposable income left.
Not hard to understand. You have emotion, and compassion on the one side , you have rational thought and factual statistics on the other side of the argument. You have the rule of law argued on one side and you have the other side which says the law should be ignored based on emotion and compassion.
If the middle class is being destroyed it is from the bottom up and not the top down. Adding millions of people into the workforce that supports the middle class workers and those earning under $100,000 in most cases ,,,, diminishing and diluting their wages does decrease their standard of living and their purchasing power. Legal as well as illegal immigration need to be addressed and both should be reduced. Simply importing more people into the country either way and claiming more people will result in more jobs being worked at and more tax revenue is on it's face a disingenuous argument. Expelling illegal aliens would result in higher wages mainly in construction related jobs which would in turn translate into more purchasing power for those workers . Yes it may cost you a couple more $ per week to get your yard mowed or several thousand when you buy a home,, but these people will have more ability to purchase whatever goods or services you provide which will ultimately result in higher incomes for all.
Nobody can dispute wages are falling and median income has declined. Overall economic decline and lack of jobs has contributed to this, but labor supply vs. demand is the driving force. Simply expelling people because of economic decline is immoral , but deciding the rule of law prevails and it is time to address the issues of illegal immigration as well as legal immigration as it pertains to the welfare of the American people . This is a legitimate reason to take action as inaction has not served the American people or immigrants of either stripe in a beneficial manner. If we do not address these issues properly and without emotion,,,, just the facts,,,, We cannot remain the country everyone wants to come to. Our economy will not regain strength and the workers competing for the jobs illegals are doing whether illegal or not,,,, will never see their wages rise and most likely see them decline further.

Because Texans want to enforce our immigration laws..why do you dredge up a 2 year old pic of communist organizers from Mexico?
