Did Debbie Riddle Really Say That?
Did state Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, really say minorities were opposed to immigration reform because they were used to “entitlements”? That’s what Trey Martinez Fischer D-San Antonio, tweeted yesterday in anticipation of their scheduled debate on CNN over immigration. It turns out he was right. According to Riddle, Arizona-styled immigration in Texas could be a tough sell because "when you have people that are used to entitlements, then they like the entitlements and they want the entitlements to keep coming." The CNN debate was postponed Monday because of the BP oil spill, and again today because of the alleged ...

""when you have people that are used to entitlements, then they like the entitlements and they want the entitlements to keep coming."
The truth is the truth regardless if you like it or not. It's just human nature. If you get stuff for free, you will want to keep getting it for free as long as possible.

i recieved free lunches in elementary, junior and high schools growing up. my single mother recieved food stamps. yes chris, i have never paid for lunch since, nor do I wish too. nor has she ever paid for her own groceries since. we loved being so poor we had to have government assitance. is that what you wanted to hear?

I agree with you, Sheri. Life's way more complicated than "Don't give anybody anything or they'll never fend for themselves again."

Riddle is an insane Nazi. She should move to Arizona

@Cyndi Jones Brown How is what she just said similar to the NAZI party platform?

This lady is as bad as Perry. Note the link she frames between welfare and brown people where no one brought up welfare. She has a picture of Latinos that she imposes on the debate and it comes out in word salad.
Riddle me this, ma'am: if your country were tearing itself to pieces in a bloody gangland drug war, and you had kids, would you be a good parent or a bad parent if you broke the law to get them out?

What she is saying is that it will be hard to get the minorities on board because they are used to entitlements. Most of the minority "folk" that I know, and I know quite a few because I am a democrat and in a precinct that has a fairly good minority representation, are hard working people and many make more than I do. So I am a bit confused about who she is talking about.

Wow! She IS as bad as Perry! Wonder if she totes a big gun to protect herself from all those folks she thinks have been given entitlements?

Who would know better about entitlements than a xenophobic horse breeder? I thought this "compassionate conservative" comment,
"Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education, free medical care, free whatever? It comes from Moscow, from Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell. And it's cleverly disguised as having a tender heart. It's not a tender heart. It's ripping the heart out of this country."
during the 78th session w/ Texas facing a $10 billion deficit, in which she blamed immigrants for the state's woes, was the peak of her idiocy. Apparently she likes to raise the bar of that idiocy.

Forgive me, but I do not see the link Rep. Riddle draws between immigration reform and her assumption that all "people of color" receive entitlements
