DHS to Grant Relief for Some Young Illegal Immigrants
Update, 1:45 p.m.:
President Obama defended his administration’s new policy Friday afternoon as a measure that will “lift the shadow of deportation” from immigrant youths who “have done everything right” after being brought to the U.S. illegally.
But he also said the measure doesn't equate to blanket amnesty and called on Congress to realize that comprehensive immigration reform is “the right thing to do.”
“I have said time and time again to Congress, ‘Send me the DREAM Act, put it on my desk and I will sign it right away,’” he said during a brief ...

Since my kids are no longer allowed to call them "illegal immigrants" in school because the word illegal has "negative connotations that make people feel bad about themselves," we told the kids to call them international trespassers. The teachers can't figure out whether that's PC, and yet we don't have to use terminology that makes their being here illegally sound okay. At home, we still call them illegals. It's almost like the system wants to condone activities that are against the law. That's what illegal means! I have worked with construction since I left college. I've seen people fight to get here and be really productive, good citizens. But, I've also seen people who sneak across the border and into the first welfare office they come to in order to milk a system they do not contribute to. I'm all for a better life. I'm looking for one myself, but I do everything above board. It isn't to much to ask others to do the same! Sorry. This topic gets me fired up!

Let's just tie up the court system even MORE than it already is hearing cases for non-citizens that shouldn't be allowed due process unless they ARE citizens..!

first off, the generally accepted phrase these days is "undocumented," not "illegal" immigrants (but my guess is "undocumented" didn't fit the headline space. second, my guess also is that those opposing this humane move on the part of the administration has its roots in the same bigotry that permeates resistance to the president in the first place.
children should never be held responsible for what their parents do.
the minor child brought to this country who grows up in a hardworking family that otherwise obeys all the rules does not deserve to be punished. finally, we've all witnessed people who do the right thing, and people who don't -- we get more riled over mexican immigration because it's in our backyard. that and the fact that reports of spanish-speakers closing in on the nation's caucasian population challenges an entrenched sense of entitlement.
finally before someone goes on a rant about how brown-skinned people cross our border to take away jobs, i invite the unemployed to contact farmers in arizona, arizona and alabama who are desperate forsomeone to pick their crops now that draconian state laws have intimidated many farm workers into leaving the country.

I wonder if most of the same people who hate undocumented immigrants also call themselves Christians? What would Jesus do? He would definitely kick out poor people looking for a better life...am I right? Lol.....Jesus would be laughing at these racist bigots

Ellen, these farmers don't want to pay minimum wage.
If I rob a bank and give my kid the money, and said kid takes care of it, should the kid be able to keep it? No.

Chris,
I am quite sure Jesus would have aborted these children before they were born,,, thus solving the issue before it became a problem.
