The Texas Tribune and Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum present a special screening of Game Change, based on the bestselling book by journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. The HBO film, directed by Jay Roach, documents the Republican side of the 2008 presidential election, including the introduction of then-Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as the vice presidential nominee. The film stars Julianne Moore as Palin, Ed Harris as John McCain and Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt, McCain's senior campaign strategist.
Halperin and Heilemann will participate in a post-screening Q&A moderated by The Texas Tribune’s CEO and editor-in-chief, Evan Smith. There will also be a book signing before the film screening, from 5:00 to 6:0 P.M. Books are provided by Barnes & Noble.
Mark Halperin is the editor-at-large and senior political analyst for Time magazine. He is the author of The Undecided Voter's Guide to the Next President and the coauthor of The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008. He has covered six presidential elections and served for a decade as the political director for ABC News.
John Heilemann is the national political correspondent and columnist for New York magazine. An award-winning journalist and the author of Pride Before the Fall: The Trials of Bill Gates and the End of the Microsoft Era, he is a former staff writer for The New Yorker, Wired and The Economist.
