Join U.S. Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, David Vitter of Louisiana, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and moderator Evan Smith, CEO and editor-in-chief of The Texas Tribune, at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel in San Antonio for a luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Sen. John Cornyn was overwhelmingly reelected by Texans in 2008 for a second six-year term in the U.S. Senate. Cornyn was first elected to the Senate in 2002 and previously served in Texas as a district judge, a member of the Texas Supreme Court and as Texas Attorney General. He serves on the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on the Judiciary.
Sen. David Vitter was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1999. He was elected to his first term in the Senate in 2004 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2010. Vitter serves on the Committee on Environment and Public Works, the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Sen. Tom Coburn is a medical doctor as well as U.S. Senator, elected in November 2004. Coburn was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994 and ran for three consecutive terms in the House. Coburn serves on the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Committee on the Judiciary.
