Representative Will Hartnett is a native Texan and partner with the Hartnett Law Firm, a six-lawyer practice that includes the representative's father, three brothers and sister. He was first elected to represent HD-114 in 1990 and currently serves on the House Ways and Means and Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence committees. He previously served as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, vice chairman of the Judicial Affairs Committee, vice chairman of the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, and as a member of the House Appropriations and Transportation committees.
Prior to his election to the legislature, Hartnett served for three years as Gov. Bill Clements' appointee on the board of the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation, which administers Texas' multi-billion dollar student-loan program.
Hartnett's law firm specializes in estate and trust administration and litigation. He is board certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law, and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is listed in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
Hartnett graduated cum laude from Harvard University and received his law degree from the University of Texas. He and his wife, Tammy, have three sons.
