A native of Grand Prairie, Rodney Anderson attended Grand Prairie High School and later graduated from UT-Arlington with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Real Estate in 1990. He married his wife Heather in 1991. They have three children.

Following graduation, he worked as an asset manager for Bank of America. He later worked for Chicago Title Company for 11 years as a title manager. In 2004 he became president of Sierra Title of North Texas in Denton, serving until 2007. He most recently served as vice-president of Commerce Title Company in Dallas.
