Representative Jose Menendez is the national director for emerging real estate markets for Stewart Title Company. He was first elected to represent HD-124 in 2000 and currently serves as vice chairman of the State Affairs Committee and on the License and Procedures committee.
His previous assignments include memberships on the Committee on Financial Institutions and the Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committee, the Appropriations and Urban Affairs committees. He cites his legislative priorities as public education, housing and economic development issues, and the state's operating budget.
He is a former vice chairman of the San Antonio Zoning Commission and has served the boards of Keep San Antonio Beautiful, San Antonio Life Directions, Inc., the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, and served as chairman of the San Antonio Community Revitalization Action Group I & II.
Menendez graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1987 and earned degrees in Business Administration and Latin American Studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He married Cehlia Newman-MenĂŠndez in1995. They have three children, Dominic Michael, Victoria Elise and Austin Maxwell.
