Congressman John Culberson was elected in 2000. He represents the 7th District of Texas.

Culberson is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and three of its subcommittees.

His signature transportation project in the Katy Freeway expansion, the nation's first Interstate highway with locally-owned toll roads.

Culberson earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University in 1981. He earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston.

Before being elected to Congress, he was a civil defense attorney with Houston firm Lorance and Thompson.

Culberson served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1986-2000.

He is married and has one daughter.
