Representative Dan Gattis of Georgetown was first elected to represent HD-20 in 2002 and currently serves on the Technology, Economic Development, and Workforce, and Business and Industry committees.

He previously served on the House Select Committee on Property Tax Relief and Appraisal Reform and has also served posts on the Natural Resources and Appropriations committees.

Gattis cites his legislative priorities as tax reform, education, health care, transportation, water policy, and public safety issues. He has also served posts on the National Conference of State Legislatures and the American Legislative Exchange Council. He is a former member of the Texas Supreme Court's Task Force on Jury Assembly and Administration, the governor's Criminal Justice Advisory Council, and the State Bar of Texas Court Administration Task Force.

He graduated from Texas A&M University, where he served as class president and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He received his law degree from the South Texas College of Law and his prior public service includes working as a prosecutor in the county attorney's office and the district attorney's office in Williamson County. Gattis also maintains a private law practice in Georgetown and helps run the family ranch.

Gattis is married to wife Shana and the duo are the proud parents of three pre-school age children.
