Analysis
She had a $17,705 tax lien on one of her homes in 2005 that was later released, and a $172,246 tax lien on one of her homes in 2009.
Davis' biggest campaign funders are lobbyists with clients who have business before the Legislature. She also counts Capital Alliance, a lobbying firm, as a client.
In 2008, Davis asked the Texas Racing Commission to expedite a license for a track in which she had a 5 percent stake (Dallas dental clinic mogul David Alameel was the majority partner). She said she didn't believe her efforts constituted a conflict, and she hired a former state representative, Ron Wilson, to help her. Four years later, she was a paid consultant to Alameel in his failed bid for Congress.
Davis did not return repeated phone calls seeking to discuss her financial interests.
